It has taken me a long time, but I finally committed ALL of my resources to BIP 101 - bitcoin xt

I run two full nodes and a small miner. I switched on full node to xt when all of this started, but now I'm fed up. I switched my miner back to slush's pool today and I updated my other node to bitcoinxt. Sometimes it just feels refreshing to do the right thing.
If you want to move your miners to slush's pool and show your support for 8mb blocks (aka: bitcoinxt, BIP 101), set up an account at http://mining.bitcoin.cz and use these mining addresses:
stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3301 - General
stratum+tcp://us-east.stratum.bitcoin.cz:3301 - USA
stratum+tcp://eu.stratum.bitcoin.cz:3301 - Europe
Slush is re-enabling BIPB101: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/slush-pool-to-re-enable-bip-bitcoin-mining-1448902761
If you want to set up bitcoixt, it's pretty easy to just remove bitcoind and run the binary linked here: https://bitcoinxt.software/
You can find more information about bitcoinxt blocks here: http://xtnodes.com/

Let them hear your voice for BIP101! NiceHash -> Slush -> NiceHash -> ...

Since I see so few BIP101 blocks, I felt the need for a small experiment:
  1. I setup a NiceHash.com and a mining.bitcoin.cz (slush pool) account. Then I filled up my nicehash wallet initially with some coins.
  2. Then I rent Hashrate and pointed them to SLUSH BIP101 stratum servers:
stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3301 - General stratum+tcp://us-east.stratum.bitcoin.cz:3301 - USA stratum+tcp://eu.stratum.bitcoin.cz:3301 - Europe (The above info is from slush FB site, they do not have it on their site yet, very confusing).
  3. I set the payout address back to my NiceHash wallet.
Every share reward I mine is directly transferred back to NiceHash to rent more Hash power. Of course this method has frictional losses because of fees, luck and such. But since I believe in the need for bigger blocks and love this voting for consensus, its worth something.
I will update this when I have numbers about invest, return, fees friction losses etc..
Update 1 I invested 1 BTC to start renting hashrate at approx 0.009 Btc/THash/Day. It burned 0.22 BTC of invest to get a return of 0.27 BTC. A gain of 0.05 Btc due to luck of mining for Slush. Lets hope it keeps up :)
Update 2 Falling fiat prices (higher costs) combined with a bit bad luck can lead to a burnrate of ~20% per cycle (nicehash->slush->nicehash). Anyway from the numbers this can also be profitable. Maybe I retry at a higher fiat price.

Here are the URL's for Slush if you want to point your miners there and support Big Blocks

Slush pool
We don't tell you if big or small. It's your choice!
Right now, every Slush Pool miner can vote for larger blocksize. Simply use one of following mining URL to do so:

Getting started with Antminer U2

Okay everyone, I have read several articles, watched a YouTube video, so obviously I am now an expert. But I'm having some trouble. So, I have an Antminer U2.. It has a black heat sink, if that makes a difference (I've seen a lot of different colors on Google Image). I joined the Slush pool (I think, it is mining.bitcoin.cz). I setup a script as follows:
bfgminer -S antminer:all -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u myusername.worker1 -p XXX
According to what the pool website told me, I was to put worker1 as my worker after my username, and then the password did not matter. When I run my script, it finders the Antminer, but then nothing seems to happen. It gets a "SICK" error shortly after I start the script. What have I done wrong?

Supporting BIP 101 without hardware: how can I rent 101-friendly hashes?

Long gone is the time we could mine at home. Since I can't mine, I can't contribute (vote) for BIP 101. Anyone knows cex.io-like hash renting service, so I can at least buy my right to vote? We need more 101 blocks!
Update: Just got my old ~2Ghash/s equipment up and running. Pointed it to Slush. In order to "vote", you must use these addresses:
If there is interest, I can receive BTC, buy/mine, and return the mining profits proportionally. If enough people are interested we can definitively mine some blocks!

Need help with gridseed in Linux

I just recieved the gridseed ASIC miner in the mail. I have successfully gotten it to mine litecoin in linux with cgminer. But unfortunately I haven't gotten it working with bitcoin. I am mining from slush pool and don't start telling me that it's not worth it. I didn't expect it to be, I'm just a hobbyist. I have the cgminer command written down. I have cgminer recognizing the gridseed device, I just cant get it to show that it has connected and start displaying the status of it's mining job. I can do it with ltcrabbit and hypernova but I am unable to mine bitcoin from slush pool. Here is the command I used
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u baronobeefdip.worker1 -p ****
Nothing is working, I want to know how I can make it communicate with the pool. I did download a special version of cgminer that was compatible with the gridseed device so I think it might need some updating. As for the device itself, the drivers for the console should be already in the kernel. I am thinking that there is more to be done here when it comes to bitcoin, I understand it's an entirely different animal and one cannot switch inbetween the two.

Troubleshooting Antminer U2.

Hello everyone, I just recently bought an Antminer U2. I have attempted to try and mine using it however I am running into some problems.
Every time I try and start it up it appears as if it is working with the green light flashing; however in just seconds it stops flashing and soon the device is declared "SICK".
I am using, Bitmain Antminer U2 bfgminer 5.20 bfgminer -S antminer:all -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u XXX(I actually put my username here) -p XXX
Thanks for the help.

No Shares on Dashboard

Hi,
I started mining yesterday (yes, I'm new) and have set up a miner pointed at stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333. Yesterday I was able to see on the dashboard my 'scoring hashrate' just short of 1Gh. Today, I check to see how its going and see that the hashrate was slowly falling. Its been falling for the past 8 hours with last share accepted 8 hours ago. The miner is working and accepting shares.
Recommendations?

So. i just started mining. it has been running for about 10 mins and i haven't gotten ANYTHING. Any help?

i have gotten no shares accepted or stale. im running at 1.2Mh/s on a 7970 OC with an i5 2500k at 3.7Ghz. if this is normal how long should it take for me to get any sign that im getting packages or shares.

Can't connect.

I now have 3 AMD GPUs. An old 5850, a 380, and a 290. I know GPU mining is barely profitable, but I have pretty cheap power deep in south TX, a very efficient PSU, and nothing to do with this hardware.
Having some trouble connecting with sgminer, which I built myself from github repo using visual studio (BTW: have there been any attempts at a Thompson Hack?). I haven't tried any other pools yet, I'm a BTC newb but I remember years ago Slushes pool was around, and I figured I'd go to the oldest/biggest pool to get started with, see how it goes, for a month and see if it's profitable. Anyway, here is the error I'm getting.

GUIMiner and bitcoin.cz - Needing help

Hello, I'm currently trying to use GUIMiner to connect to my workers on mining.bitcoin.cz (slush's pool apparently?), athough it as not shown that my miners have been active, or are active when I've already started the service. And this is what cgminer outputs: http://i.imgur.com/6eGeSpj.png

I don't really know what much of this means or how to fix it. I don't have a driver installed on the r-box at the moment. I really just need to get cgminer to see my miner and talk with it. I have cgminer set up correctly.
Ask any questions if I'm not giving enough info. Thanks!

Can't start mining

Hey everyone, I just recently decided to get into mining on my PC while I wasn't using it. I've installed GUIMiner and signed on to slush's pool, but every time I try to start mining, I get something similar to
" authorization failed with :*******@stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333, IO errors - 1, tolerance 2 "
I've looked through forums, and other people have had the same problem, but I haven't found any solutions. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
EDIT: I figured it out, I had installed my bitcoin client to D:\ but the default path in GUIMiner is C:\ I'll leave this up in case someone else has the same problem

I've got some problems with GUIminer... (possibly from the Slushs Pool issues?)

I've been mining off slushs pool and guiminer for a while now and suddenly yesterday I got these errors:

GUIminer returning "Verification failed, check hardware" on HD 6870. BitMinters Client is working though.

I want to use GUIminer and more specifiaclly I want to use the poclbm kernel because it allows me to set the -f 60 flag, which allows me to play games (league of legends) while mining. However GUIminer returns:

I googled for a solution which said I should downgrade to CCC version 11.11, however this is not ideal since it would negatively affect my gaming experience. I also heard that BitMinter had a very easy to use client, so I decided to give that a shot. This client is indeed easy, as it immediatly worked! My work got accepted for the most part (5 stale out of 300+ proofs of work), however this is not the pool I want to mine in and the client does not allow me to set any parameters.
Anyone know a solution, obviously there are miners that could work with my card (BitMinter), but I did not find them yet. I tried GUIminer, Phoenix and CGminer.
PS: Please don't comment on whether mining is viable for me. I want to participate in Bitcoin mining with my gaming PC, my question is not about viability.
